Since 1972 Special Olympics Wyoming has been changing attitudes about the talents of people with intellectual disabilities. Since 1987, Wyoming Law Enforcement has been raising awareness and funds for Special Olympics Wyoming athletes!
Law Enforcement Torch Run will kick off Special Olympics Wyoming 50th Year Anniversary celebration with statewide local community fundraising "runs" throughout the month of September 2022!
Beginning September 1st and concluding on October 31st, runners/walkers/cyclists across the state will keep the Flame of Hope burning by running, walking, and cycling in their communities. In celebration of the 50th anniversary help us log 5,000 miles and raise $5,000 for the nearly 1600 athletes of Special Olympics Wyoming!
Steps to get started:
1) Register a team (2 -10 members)
NOTE: you must join your team you created to be a participant /team member.
Just donating to a team is not the same as joining/registering to be a participant . You may donate to your team or yourself if you'd like after you register.
2) Personalize your or your team's fundraising page
3) Invite others to join your team and donate
*log your miles on your fundraising page
*post pictures of you and/or your team out running spreading the message of inclusion
4) Share your fundraising page by email, social or text message - spread the message

**This doesn't have to be a "one and done" run - although it can be - but rather a cumulative mileage run, so you and your teammates can meet your mileage and fundraising goal over a 60-day period.

In Support of Special Olympics Wyoming
Special Olympics is founded on the belief that people with intellectual disabilities can, with proper instruction & encouragement, learn, enjoy & benefit from participation in individual & team sports, adapted as necessary to meet the needs of those with intellectual & physical limitations. Special Olympics believes that consistent training is indispensable to the development of an individual’s sports skills. In addition, competition among those of equal abilities is the most appropriate means of testing these skills, measuring progress, and providing incentives for personal growth.
